Announcing New Cloud Wallet Services to Streamline Mobile Checkout via Partnership Between Cardinal Commerce and Unbound Commerce

Partnership Targets Mobile Conversion Rates

MENTOR, Ohio and BOSTON, June 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CardinalCommerce and Unbound Commerce are pleased to announce their new Cloud Wallet Service for online merchants. Scheduled for release in July, Cloud Wallet Service from Unbound Commerce uses the new Universal Wallet API(TM) from Cardinal offering a single point connection to several leading digital wallets. Our combined resources are targeting the #1 inhibitor of mobile purchases: thumb-typing through checkout. Using Cloud Wallet Service, mobile retailers can accept any kind of cloud wallet their buyers wish to use. The new service launches with support for PayPal, Amazon, Google Wallet, by Visa, MasterPass by MasterCard, Payfone One Touch Checkout on Verizon devices and Sprint Mobile Wallet.

42% of consumers say it’s a “showstopper” to have to thumb-type name / address / payment info into their phones.

The partnership between Cardinal — the world-leader in enabling remote commerce (internet, mobile, etc.) — and Unbound Commerce — the #1 provider of mobile commerce to top 2000 online retailers — was formed to target the problem of low conversion rates in mobile settings. “Our two companies know we can deliver solutions to streamline mobile checkout. Unbound’s Cloud Wallet Service will make it easy for retailers to accept the online wallet of their buyer’s choice,” according to Keith Lietzki, Vice President/Co-Founder of Unbound Commerce. “Based on studies, we expect to deliver 20-40% gains when retailers can accept the cloud-based wallet that works best for their individual buyers.”

“Mobile can be the linchpin to retailers’ omni-channel strategy,” said Lietzke. “Mobile is often non-transactional when it is mainly used to support other channels. But when the consumer has the impulse to purchase, the retailer must make the mobile purchase as quick as possible. Cardinal was an obvious partner for us once we understood the scope of their transactional capabilities. They have taken a big lead in support for this powerful new class of online wallets.”

“The payments industry is in the midst of a transformation giving consumers unprecedented options from their banks, phone companies and e-commerce leaders,” said Tim Sherwin, Cardinal’s Executive Vice President. “A partnership with Unbound was attractive because it helps further our mission of normalizing payments through a single integration with little to no effort or time on behalf of our customers. Cardinal’s existing Centinel merchants can leverage the framework already in place to easily add the Universal Wallet API, effectively Future-Proofing their business so they are prepared for whichever services do take off.”

Cloud Wallet Service is scheduled for release in July 2013. 10 retailers will be selected for beta. For more information, email to
